Best Wedding Speeches

The Golden Rules For Writing a Great Speech

Understand the role of each speaker at a wedding; the best speeches usually follow a set pattern as laid down in wedding etiquette.http://tiny.cc/xx14tw
The following is the traditional order of speeches at a wedding
  1. Father of the bride wedding speech
  2. Grooms wedding speech
  3. Bestman / Groomsmans wedding speech
  4. Sometimes the maid of honour, bride or bride of the mother might each speak.
Each of these parties has a set of thank-yous' to undertake and it is important that they do not repeat each other, so some degree of coordination is required in order to get obtain the best results..
It is important that when writing your speech you are as original and personal as possible. The temptation might be to go and Google famous wedding speeches, best wedding speeches, best man wedding speeches or best friends wedding speeches, all of which will bring up a ton of results. You could then go and copy and paste your speech together, but this is neither effective nor personal.
First think about what sentiment you wish to convey
Write down a few key points, fun stories achievements etc depending on your role as a speaker.
Then flesh this out with what I consider the compulsory elements; the thanks you have to give and the toasts you have to do in your role.
A good structure for the your speech might be
  • Introduction, you, your role
  • Amusing story about your subject, bride, bride groom etc.
  • Some personal sentiments about how you feel about the day and your role
  • Maybe a quote on marriage
  • Toasts as appropriate
With your speech written all you then have to do is rehearse. Then on the big day stand up, speak up and then shut up.
Brevity is often and audiences best friend.
I hope these tips have given you some pointers on what to do when seeking to give the best wedding speeches. If you want to go the extra mile, writing and delivering a highly amusing and original wedding speech then check out our Tips. Here is a video to watch.
