Your Wedding Countdown Step By Step

Expert Author Carl Tulumello
One year before the wedding date.
Get to the drawing board and put together some ideas that you and your partner agree on.
watch this video here: http://youtu.be/FxwEqC_b61w
You need to set a date for the big day and book the church or registrar. Ministers and registrars do not tend to agree with booking a venue before them.
It's hard to do so initially, however decide on a rough budget that you can afford to pay and do your best to stick it.
Keep in mind the costs for the ceremony. Whether you're choosing a church or registry office you may want flowers and decoration, and if you choose a church a choir and organ player maybe required.
Pick a venue for the reception and arrange a meeting with the caterer or banqueting manger at the hotel that will be in charge on the day. Always ask them if there are any limitations and rules that may go against your requirements. For example if they don't allow live music and you want a band you're stuck!
Plan your wedding cake and what sort of filling and decoration you require. You will need to know how many guests are attending so you know how large the cake should be. The amount of tiers on the cake will affect the overall cost.
Book a wedding car for the bride. You will normally get a car for around 3 hours which is enough time for transport you to the ceremony venue and then to the reception venue.
Look for a florist who can decorate the wedding venue and church, or registrar venue. Choose flowers that are not only beautiful and fit within your theme, but they must be durable and with able to stand heat / cold and a possible drop to floor!
Think about wedding attire, particularly the bridal dress. The dress normally needs to be ordered 6 - 12 months before the wedding day. The men normally hire a suit, so for the groom, best man and ushers. If the groom decides to buy a suit they should get measured and start shopping around.
Once you have a colour scheme, theme and style which will be carried through the whole day talk this over with the dressmaker, catering company, florist and whoever else is providing a service. Everything must be coordinated and correspond with each other.
Ask the venue what entertainment you're allowed, and importantly not allowed. Once you know book either a DJ or band.
If you're going on a honeymoon straight after the wedding day, you should definitely start looking, or if you can, book up. You can leave it until the last minute to get deal though.
Decide whether you want to make your own wedding invitations so you can start work on these immediately. Do it yourself invites can take up a lot of your time and effort, but in the long run could save you more than £300 - £500.
6 months before the wedding.
Send out the wedding invitations to everyone. It's crucial that family and friends who live abroad get these in good time, so they can book their flights and get a good deal.
If you're not making the wedding favours yourself order those from a company.
Discuss the order of the service with the registrar or minister and decide what hymns and how many you're planning on singing. Maybe as your guests enter you want music played from either a stereo with a special meaningful song to you both. You also need to arrange with the church if you want an organ player as this will normally effect the price (if you're being charged).
Try and make an appointment with your caterers or banqueting manger at the hotel to find out if you can attend a menu tasting session and understand what menu course's go with each other. It's also a good idea to choose what wine you and your guests need for their tables. The wine needs to compliment the food being served.
Decide on a wedding present list for your respected parents, best man, bridesmaids and ushers.
Order the rings.
Book mobile disco & DJ or band
A doctor and dentist check up is a good idea to fix any decays and to make sure you're fit and well.
If you plan on going abroad for your honeymoon, find out if you need injections against diseases.
Organise visas, passports and make sure they're in date and in good condition. Passports will be rejected if in bad condition.
3 months before the wedding
Organise the appropriate pre-marriage documents and certificates. Maybe another meeting with the registrar or vicar would be a good idea to discuss these documents if you do not have them.
Finalise your colour scheme with the florists for the bouquets, buttonholes and any other decoration you're having on yourself or others.
Make sure you have finalised the wedding guest list and check to make sure everyone has responded to the invites so you know how many numbers attending. Remember to keep a careful track of replies. Caterers will want to know this so they can send you a final bill! Maybe set up an email address which everyone needs to reply to.
Arrange accommodation for your guests and advise & send web links to travelling guests of prices for your hotel. It's best to have as many stay over in the same hotel as you to keep the atmosphere going the next morning.
1 month before the wedding
Make sure the bride, bridesmaid, groom, best man, ushers all attend a final fittings meeting. Ask the bridesmaids to make sure they're all wearing the same shoes.
Have a hair and make-up rehearsal with chosen artist and hair dresser.
Finalise seating arrangements and numbers for the church and wedding reception venue
Discuss with the registrar or minister a plan for the ceremony and arrange a rehearsal.
Keep yourself fit and healthy and do not take any risks in day to day life. Make sure you get lots of rest so you're full of spark and energy. 1 month will fly past!
Two Weeks to go
Sort out and arrange traveller's cheques, exchange money, insurance, car hire and all other documentation needed on the honeymoon.
Plan seating arrangements and label place cards.
Finalise and confirm details with the photographer, florist, caterers and disco service or band
Make an appointment to dry wedding dress for final fitting.
A week to go
Have the wedding rehearsal at the church or registrar office.
Nominate someone to look after the wedding dress and the groom's outfit after the wedding, if you're going on your honeymoon straight after the wedding day.
Gift wrap all presents for the bridesmaids, best man, ushers, parents etc.
Pay fees for the church or registrar, musicians, disco & DJ or band (best man should do this)
Ask the best man to take documents and rings for safe keeping. He must guard the items with his life!
Two days before the wedding
Confirm your final guest numbers and list to your banqueting manager or venue for the reception.
Make sure the wedding cake is in the progress of being baked or ready to eat and make sure all transport arrangements are confirmed to and from your reception venue.
The day before your Wedding
Take and treat yourself to a manicure and pedicure session, a long hot bath and get your head down for well earned early night. If the groom goes out with his mates and family, make sure he keeps is mind clear for the big day ahead. Once again the Groom should also get a nice early night.
The Wedding Day
Relax and take deep breaths.
Have a good breakfast - next meal is mid afternoon.
Get your hair and make up done nice and early
Give yourself plenty of time to reach the church or registrar and always allow for the last minute delays.
Have a fantastic day to remember for the rest of your lives.

Summer Wedding Flower

Summer Wedding Flower - 10 Popular Choices For A Bride Planning A Summer Wedding

Summer is a time of fun. A sunny day simply has an uplifting effect on even the most pessimistic of people. Smiling and laughter seem intuitive, and most people simply enjoy the outdoors. It is probably predictable that most wedding occur in summer, after all it is that time of year when most people are physically warm and comfortable. Sure there are exceptions, but generally clear, warm weather tends to translate into clear, warm temperament.

It is not surprisingly that summer brides are spoilt for choice when it comes to summer wedding flowers, not to mention the proliferation of outdoor wedding venues in summer, which also gives the bride additional options. In addition it also enables her to align her wedding flowers to the venue, using tropical flowers in exotic venues, wild flowers in garden venues and even beach flowers at beach venues.
In terms of summer wedding flowers the most popular flowers would definitely include (although not be limited) to the following:
1. Sunflowers
A firm favorite at many a summer wedding. This is a physically large flower that makes an immediate statement. The name sunflower says it all. Unquestionably the best flower ambassador for the bright summer sun, these fiery blooms with a dark or black center are particularly popular in yellow, and interestingly are also available in red, brown, orange, bronze and mahogany. This summer wedding flower acts as a distinct focal point in all arrangements. Generally a summer bride will construct her arrangement around a select few sunflowers.
2. Gazanias
Usually referred to as the Treasure Flower, this is a potentially contentious choice as a summer wedding flower. When using these flowers a bride should plan around a daytime wedding and cut the flowers as late as possible, especially given their tendency to close at night and in overcast weather. Generally these flowers are available in a vast array of dynamic colors, including multi-hued colors which amplifies the effect of the gazanias.
3. Gerbera Daisies
If beauty is in the eye of the beholder, then these flowers are a very popular choice most brides would have difficulty in ignoring these wedding flowers. Characterized by a remarkably intensity of color, looking at these flowers almost makes your teeth hurt! With good reason these flowers are a very popular choice in summer weddings, and consistently rank as one of the fifth most used cut flower in the world (preceded by roses, carnations, chrysanthemums and tulips). Also commonly referred to as the African Daisy.
4. Dahlia
If an unconventional and somewhat unstructured floral appeals to you then dahlias would be a serious consideration on your big day. Definitely a somewhat right-brained flower, dahlias work exceptionally well in summer weddings. Big, shaggy and multi-petaled describes this flower well, with a sea anemone resembling its closet relative in a parallel universe. Definitely diverse in appearance, most species have a distinct quant and frothy look to them, in one form or another. Definitely an interesting taking point with your guests.
5. Black Eyed Susan
Just the term black-eyed susan conjures up some interesting images with brides. Of course in reference to a wedding flower, as opposed to a femme fatale. Generally considered to be a wild flower found in open woods and road sides, they make excellent summer wedding flowers and are particularly popular with the more vintage and rustic-type weddings.
Similar to daffodils they are particularly well-known for their striking yellow colors and dark centers, and are great friends with bees and butterflies. These daisy-like flowers are also available in orange, brown, red and sometimes in a multi-hued appearance.
6. Poppy
Poppies sometimes just simply get bad rap, in particular with their associations with the narcotics trade. The truth is these flowers make for delightful wedding flowers and remain ever popular with summer weddings.
These somewhat tubular-looking blooms grow on a long and thin flexible stem and are available in a variety of colors. Red and white poppies in particular make for a stunning combination in a wedding bouquet.
7. Cosmos
Closely related to daisies, these are a popular summer wedding flower that are generally available in pink, multi-hued pinks, white, orange, and red. This is a small, orderly flower with evenly placed petals that works either exclusively or as an excellent accent flower in a wedding floral arrangement and has a vase life of up to 10 days if carefully managed.
A popular concept with brides is to sometimes use these flowers exclusively, but to design a bouquet using different color cosmos arranged in a reasonably symmetrical fashion.
8. Tuberose
If you love angelic white as a color, you will love the tuberose as a summer selection. Characterized by a powerful, sweet scent that even has a commercial association with certain perfumes, these tubular-shaped flowers are in no way related to roses despite the similar name, although both feature strongly as sought-after wedding flowers. These flowers are also frequently used in tropical destinations to construct leis.
9. Peony
Commonly available in white, cream, pinks, lavender, mahogany and red, these large flowers have a distinct disheveled, fluffy look, although disheveled in a kind of teddy bear fashion. Similar in appearance to hydrangeas, these flowers are available in a far diversity of shapes and work well in most floral arrangements, but particularly in bouquets, especially when used as an exclusive flower in an exclusive color.
10. Chrysanthemum
These flowers are undoubtedly one of the most popular summer wedding flower selections for brides. Also characterized by various diverse appearances, including the popular pompon form, these blooms are available in pink, yellow, red, white, copper and purple and make for excellent additions to all floral arrangements, but in particular bouquets and centerpieces.
Summer wedding flowers very often have a strong resonance to a marriage that has a sunny disposition, and why not? Summer after all is a time for celebration and to have that theme reinforced with beautiful summer wedding flowers just seems to make good sense Click her for more information: Wedding flower.

Best Wedding Speeches

The Golden Rules For Writing a Great Speech

Understand the role of each speaker at a wedding; the best speeches usually follow a set pattern as laid down in wedding etiquette.http://tiny.cc/xx14tw
The following is the traditional order of speeches at a wedding
  1. Father of the bride wedding speech
  2. Grooms wedding speech
  3. Bestman / Groomsmans wedding speech
  4. Sometimes the maid of honour, bride or bride of the mother might each speak.
Each of these parties has a set of thank-yous' to undertake and it is important that they do not repeat each other, so some degree of coordination is required in order to get obtain the best results..
It is important that when writing your speech you are as original and personal as possible. The temptation might be to go and Google famous wedding speeches, best wedding speeches, best man wedding speeches or best friends wedding speeches, all of which will bring up a ton of results. You could then go and copy and paste your speech together, but this is neither effective nor personal.
First think about what sentiment you wish to convey
Write down a few key points, fun stories achievements etc depending on your role as a speaker.
Then flesh this out with what I consider the compulsory elements; the thanks you have to give and the toasts you have to do in your role.
A good structure for the your speech might be
  • Introduction, you, your role
  • Amusing story about your subject, bride, bride groom etc.
  • Some personal sentiments about how you feel about the day and your role
  • Maybe a quote on marriage
  • Toasts as appropriate
With your speech written all you then have to do is rehearse. Then on the big day stand up, speak up and then shut up.
Brevity is often and audiences best friend.
